Community Guidelines

Sport brings strong opinions. 2nd screen welcomes rivalry, jokes, criticism, reporting, and disagreement. These rules apply to participation in our service, including posts, profiles, rosters, replies, messages, and attempts to manipulate sports discovery or verification.

1. Debate the game; respect the people

Criticize a play, a referee’s call, an owner, or a pundit. Do not threaten violence, stalk someone, coordinate harassment, encourage a pile-on, or repeatedly target a person with degrading abuse. Athletes, officials, journalists, fans, and their families have the same protection.

Do not attack people because of race, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or another protected characteristic. Slurs, dehumanization, and calls to exclude or harm a protected group are prohibited. Team rivalry is not an exception.

2. Keep people safe

Do not exploit or sexualize children, groom them, solicit intimate material, or help others do so. Do not share intimate images without consent, including fabricated images, or threaten to share them. Do not disclose private addresses, contact details, credentials, medical information, or locations that put someone at risk.

Do not recruit for terrorism or violent crime, instruct people to harm themselves or others, promote suicide or eating disorders, or celebrate real-world abuse. Ordinary coverage of regulated combat sports, injury reporting, prevention, recovery, and other public-interest discussion can be appropriate; context and content warnings matter. Shock content exploiting a victim is not sports coverage.

Use applicable labels and age restrictions for sensitive material. Do not evade content controls. The open network may contain adult content; that does not permit exposing minors to it or distributing nonconsensual material.

3. Be clear about who you are

Do not impersonate an athlete, team, league, journalist, verifier, or another person. Fan, parody, and commentary accounts are welcome when their identity is clear. Do not forge a verification badge, invent an official relationship, or use a changed identity to mislead existing followers.

Do not spread deliberate deception likely to cause immediate harm, run ticket or merchandise scams, steal accounts, or mislead people into disclosing money or credentials. Disclose paid endorsements, affiliate links, gifts and other material commercial relationships clearly, including athlete sponsorships and name, image and likeness promotions. Do not present an advertisement as independent reporting. Do not manipulate engagement, create spam rosters, or abuse reports to silence opponents.

4. Respect broadcasts and creators

Share media only when you have permission or the law permits it. Do not distribute unauthorized game streams, bypass paywalls or access controls, or direct people to pirated broadcasts. A clip being short, viral, or widely reposted does not automatically make it lawful. Legitimate quotation, criticism, reporting, and other legal exceptions remain available.

Do not sell counterfeit tickets, merchandise, or unlawful goods. Do not facilitate illegal betting, match fixing, manipulation of sporting results, or gambling promotions to minors. Do not use giveaways or purported investment tips to disguise gambling or fraud. Sports discussion may mention odds; it must not become fraud, coercion, or prohibited commercial activity.

5. Keep the service usable

Do not attack infrastructure, scrape private information, distribute malware, evade rate limits, or bypass an enforcement decision. Authorized security research and ordinary lawful use of public network APIs are not prohibited. Report a vulnerability privately to support with enough detail to investigate safely.

6. Reporting and review

The app currently relies on Bluesky’s social content service and its baseline moderation, alongside applicable regional moderation, your content settings, and other moderation services you select. These controls can affect posts from any account host, including ours. We do not currently run our own system for hiding individual network posts for everyone using 2nd screen, and we do not guarantee that every post is reviewed before you see it.

The app’s reporting controls send reports to the moderation service identified in the flow, often Bluesky. Those reports do not automatically reach our team. To contact us about 2nd screen’s own services or an account we host, use Support & policies. We assess email reports ourselves and may refer a concern to the provider able to act, as explained in Who handles content reports. For intimate-image abuse or an urgent safety concern, use Safety reporting. Do not download or forward illegal images to make a report.

We assess context, severity, repeat behavior, and the evidence available. Actions can include correcting our listings, withdrawing our attestations, or restricting services we control. For accounts currently hosted on our server, we can also restrict or suspend hosting, regardless of which app was used. We cannot apply that hosting action to accounts held elsewhere. Our actions do not guarantee that another provider removes its copies. We may act immediately on serious risks. Where lawful and practicable, we explain the decision and how to appeal by email.

To challenge our decision, send its reference, the affected account or content link, and why you think we got it wrong to support@2ndscreen.social. Do not recreate prohibited content to appeal. Other providers’ decisions must be appealed to them. These processes do not remove rights you have under applicable law.
